Let’s face it – Dark circles trigger sleepless nights. Unsurprisingly, they are even caused by the same.
I get it – You have thrown your hard-earned money at those expensive bottles or tubes of sheer rubbish (aka chemicals) marketed smartly in a bid to get rid of dark circles fast.
You have tried the classic all-time flop show too– Keep a cucumber slice on your eyelids. Apply potato juice on your under-eye area. None worked, am I right?
My mom suffered from dark circles.
Yes, because she made use of a homemade anti dark circles cream whose recipe was passed on by my Nani.
She used it dedicatedly for 2 months, got rid of dark circles (made other changes in her lifestyle too) and still uses it for proper upkeep of her under-eye area.
Here’s how she got rid of dark circles naturally over the course of 2 months.
1) February 2017– This was the time when she began developing dark circles all thanks to stress and long working hours.
2) March 2017 – Thanks to sleeping with the DIY Anti dark circles cream every night for over a month, we saw visible changes on her under-eye area.
Application hence, continued (along with a few additions to her diet)
3) March end 2017 – Finally, efforts (by me… How humble of me, right?) seem to have paid off.
In the name of eye makeup, she uses plain homemade kajal. Nothing else.
Let’s reveal that anti dark circles cream’s recipe today then!
Anti Dark Circles Cream: Ingredients
1) Milk cream/Malai (fresh and cold – 1 tbsp.)
2) Cold-pressed Castor oil (5 drops) – Buy here
3) Glycerine (5 drops) –Buy here
4) Kasturi Haldi (Wild turmeric – a pinch) – Buy here
If it is not authentic, this Anti-Dark Circles Cream will be useless. This is where you have to invest wisely.
Kasturi Haldi is a power-packed skin brightening ingredient. Don’t underestimate it. Here’s an anti-ageing recipe that I made using it. It suits all skin types too!
Don’t use that turmeric which you use in food. Don’t use it for skin care.
In fact, your under-eye area may burn if you use that edible turmeric.
Anti-Dark Circles Cream: Prep
Step 1: In a clean and dry bowl, add a tbsp. of fresh milk cream (the topmost layer that deposits on milk after you boil and let it to cool).
Step 2: Sprinkle a pinch of Kasturi Haldi, Cold-pressed castor oil and glycerine. Mix it with a spoon.
The anti-dark circles cream that my mom used (& uses) is ready.
How To Use This Anti Dark Circles Cream?
Step 1: Splash cold water on your face (focus on eyes mainly) for 2 mins non-stop.
That will wake you up, drive out tiredness and wash off any dirt trapped in your eyelashes.
Step 2: Sprinkle chilled Zofla rose water (Buy here) on your eyes. It shouldn’t go INSIDE your eyes. Let it get absorbed. Roughly, it will take 2 mins.
Step 3: Now, massage this Anti-Dark Circles Cream on your under-eye area.
Use only your ring finger. That is the gentlest of all our fingers. It may take 2 mins to massage it well.
Invest those 2 mins. Don’t be impatient.
Step 4: Hit the pillow! Keep that phone aside. No Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp.
Before we wind up
Let’s take up your questions on this Anti dark circles cream
Q 1: Can men use this Anti Dark Circles Cream?
A 1: Of course.
Q 2: Do I need to apply it every night?
A 2: Yes.
You have to apply it every night for at least 2 months. Increase the number of months if you have stubborn dark circles (not triggered by genes)
Q 3: Can I add essential oils to it?
A 3: No, please do not toy with essential oils when it comes to under-eye creams.
Skin there is 40 times more delicate than the skin on your face.
Unless you want to look as if you’ve been punched hard, I wouldn’t suggest addition of any essential oil.
Q 4: Which skin type can use it?
A 4: Only those with dry or normal skin. Those with oily or combination skin, please avoid it at all costs.
FYI, if you have noticeable fine lines, try this homemade cream for a month.
Q 5: What other changes did mom make in her lifestyle?
A 5: A lot actually!
I will cover that in detail later but one significant change was the inclusion of Herbal Teas.
She is old-school and prefers her Desi ‘Adrak wali Chai’ to anything but giving up on it and including Herbal Teas in their place – 3 variants namely – Organic Chamomile (buy here), Rose Green (buy here) & Hibiscus Floral (buy here) was a major change. She still drinks a cup of each of them daily.
We chalked out out an under-eye care routine too which she followed for 3 weeks when her dark circles were noticeable. After that, she reduced its frequency. More on that later.
